League History by Alan Jones (2005)

The Teifi Valley Clay Target League was founded in 1992 by a group of enthusiastic clay target
shooters eager to bring inexpensive competitive clay target shooting to the average club shooter
and also raising funds for local charities. As the name suggests the League is focused around
clubs along the River Teifi although Whitland Gun Club from the other side of Carmarthen have
given faithful service to the League over the years.

It is expected that each club holds one shoot during the year as part of the championship and
all club and individual scores are calculated from these shoots. There is also an 'End of League
Trophy shoot' with individual class and club team trophies for the winners.

An annual Open shoot is held towards the end of the year with a variety of cash awards and trophies
given to successful competitors and any profit going towards the charity fund. This shoot attracts
competitors from all over Wales.

The League has been fortunate and very grateful to have sponsors for all their events and fund
raising activities. We look forward to their continuing support in the future.Over the years the
League has nurtured and produced Senior, Veteran and Junior shooters who have represented Wales at
both County, International and World Championship level in Sporting and Skeet disciplines.
